Cocktails in North Miami Beach?

So, I've got a date. She's up in Ft. Lauderdale and I'm down in the Gables so we've decided to meet in the middle round'bout North Miami Beach for a drink. Beer is out since she's off the gluten, so wine or cocktails and decent food menu's a good idea as we'll need something to buffer the booze for our drives home. Do you guys have any suggestions? Thanks!

The lounge at Bourbon Steak is perfect.

Doesn't Hiro's Yakko-San have a full liquor bar now? That might also fit the bill.

Yes. Not quite as nice atmosphere as either of the others I mentioned but there is full liquor and a big bar to have a drink at, and Yakko-San's food.

True. I guess I'm still trying to ignore the atmosphere in light of the food.

I would much rather do the bar at bourbon, much more comfortable. You also have access to the entire menu at the restaurant + the bar menu at the bar. Only downside is you pay for the fries at the bar where they are free at the restaurant.

Are the cocktails any good at Yakko-San? I would not expect well made cocktails there.

Timo is probably less hassle (no valet, etc) and a little more casual, while Bourbon Steak will have a nicer overall vibe (bar does not get packed, music playing) and as far as resorts go, is really a very easy experience. Valet is free and prompt at Bourbon Steak.

I'm not sure of overall preferences, but if you are interested, The Grill on the Alley in Aventura Mall is also enjoyable. You can walk off the booze or catch a movie afterwards, though my preference would be for Bourbon Steak.

Bourbon Steak in Aventura has a very nice bar, good drinks, and the bar menu, aside from having their great burgers, also has a nice selection of small plates (you can also order from the full menu at the bar if you like).

I've always liked the bar at Timo as well, and there are several high 2-top tables on the bar side as well - also a menu that lends itself to a few bites or a full meal, depending on how you want to go.
