Affordable Bat Mitzvah on UWS through Fort Tryon

Hi,

I'm looking to have an affordable Bat Mitzvah party in October for approximately 120 people. We'd like a dancing. We are open to all Manhattan neighborhoods but are especially interested in the Upper West Side, Harlem or Fort Tryon.

Thanks so much!

Liz

To be more specific, I'm looking for a private party space - the food does not have to be kosher. The perfect area would be in Harlem, but we're open to other areas. It would be for either an afternoon party for 120 people or an evening party for 100. We would need to have a DJ and dancing and the crowd would include teenagers and adults. The budget is $7000 including everything. Thanks again.

Hmmm...I can't think of anywhere in Harlem big enough. The private room at Red Rooster holds up to 60. Sylvia's seems bigger, but no one here has ever recommended the place (despite the tourist throngs). The big banquet style restaurant near the bowling alley closed. Everywhere else that's good to decent (Zoma, Corner Social, Melba's) seems too small to me.

Since you're considering going up to Fort Tryon Park, what about New Leaf in the park?

New Leaf is filled through November 2012! Thanks for the reply, though.

Check Columbus72, it is sort of a night club space at (big surprise) Columbus and 72nd. I don't know what it cost, but I have been there for a friend's kids thing... and am comfortable recommending...

It is afternoon party only, they may let you stay till 7 or 8PM but they have a night scene there... (which is totally not my liking but that is off topic)

        How about Dinosaur BBQ?
