Family dining downtown Chattanooga
We're staying in the Residence Inn downtown next weekend with our infant (not eating!) and 2 1/2 year old child. Need recommendations that we can ideally walk to from the hotel that will work for a 2-year old. We eat any/all cuisines and price is not a restriction. Thanks!
We ate at both Blue Plate and Big River Grill. Blue Plate was disappointing. We liked the menu - nice, simple classic diner dishes - but everything was bland and uninteresting. But the location was great and my 2-yr old liked watching the open kitchen, so that was a bonus, and we walked to have ice cream next door and sat in the grass afterward. Big River had good food, but we had terrible service. The kitchen botched my burger twice, but the server caught it before bringing it out. They apologized profusely for the delay in getting my food, then comp'ed the entire meal for all 3 of us, so I can forgive this error because they knew how to handle it with a guest.
We liked 212 Market best. Food was wonderful - I had trout over amazing grits and sauteed spinach, topped with a watermelon salsa. It went together so perfectly and I gobbled it down. My husband had steak and was very pleased. The decor could use some work, but they were very kid-friendly for having such a nice, more upscale menu, and that was very appreciated after all the burgers and fried food we had been eating.
