Anyone dine at Scrimshaw recently? (Albany)

PSZaas Jul 13, 2012 04:08 AM

Scrimshaw (at the Desmond in Albany) hasn't been mentioned here since '07, so far as I can tell. Can anyone describe recent experience there? Thanks.

I've been a few times for meetings in the past 2 years. Standard banquet fare, well prepared. Better than the Century House. Now that Mazzone is running the catering for Hilton Garden in Clifton Park I anticipate more meetings there.

Not a place I'd be in a hurry to head to for dinner.

Thanks. I'll cross it off my list.

Didn't their chef receive some recognition recently?

FDR, possibly you are recalling Scrimshaw's recent Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator?

How long ago? Mediocre in food or in service or both? Do you remember what you ordered? Thanks.

Clams casino and an osso bucco special. Both blah. Service fair to poor. Ambiance good.
