We dined at Dafni. Thanks for the help. We had a reservation for 6:30 and they seated us right on time. It was very good. We all enjoyed our meal.

Oh that is a crappy area. I order in quite often from Thai Select which is nearby on 9th. Is Market Cafe or HK any good these days?

Dafni is great! But they only have a license to serve wine, so no cocktails.

Dafni is good, but their portions are enough to feed a horse, just crazy!

We found them to be good sized but not super large. To start we did the Greek Meatballs and there were 3, a salad that fed 3 of us and had some left over and we had some shish kabob platters that were nice sized.

Either their portions have gotten smaller or my appetite is smaller than most hounds' (the latter of which I somewhat doubt).

Mercato is absolutely adorable. It's great for sipping wine and chatting...they do cocktails as well. Every time I'm there it's just for small bites- usually the mussesl which have been excellent. Not sure about the rest of the menu though.

Have been to HK, but not too recently -- have always had a good meal and taasty cocktails there, though.

What about a lounge in one of the large hotels by 42nd St. around 8th and 9th? There's a Hilton, a Westin, and another one, I think.

That's a tough neighborhood for good food, but if you don't mind beer instead of cocktails, you could meet at Beer Authority (40th and 8th).
