Looking for a couple of quarts of rendered duck or pork fat. I've seen small containers at Mollie Stone's, but wonder if someone sells bigger tubs at better prices? Maybe the Mission? Thank you in advance.
Fatted Calf on Hayes St as well as the Ferry Building Farmer's market sells both rendered duck fat and leaf lard (excellent for pastries).
Mexican butchers and supermarkets that sell carnitas often have fresh lard at reasonable prices. Typically it's in pint containers.
I think any butcher will have. In SF, try Golden Gate Meats, Avedano's, Guerra, Prather, etc. I see lots in the EBay but I think you want city?
Boccalone SalumeriaFerry Building Marketplace San Francisco, CA 94111 (415) 433-6500
Boccalone will have tubs of lardo in tomorrow's delivery. Call them at 8:30 am on Friday.
Boccalone's lardo is pork fat cured like prosciutto. Rendered is strutto.
How Long Can You Store Rendered Fat?
Where to buy pork back fat?
