Wegmans has announced plans to open a new store in Hanover. (corner of Sylvan Way and Ridgedale Ave, which is near the 287 and route 10 intersection. No announcement as of yet for projected opening of store. Should be a good area for them... I just wish it was closer to my home...

I was a little concerned, that, due to this area's scarcity of real estate, Wegmans would pull a Whole Foods (Madison) and go with a smaller store, but apparently, this is not the case:

"A 140,000-square-feet store, one of the bigger Wegmans, is planned for the corner of Sylvan Way and Ridgedale Avenue, said Jeanne Colleluori, a spokesperson for Wegmans."

Sylvan and Ridgedale? Isn't that an office park not visible from the road??

It is just north of the intersection of Ridgedale Ave and Rte 10...a main intersection with a traffic light. I assume that there will be signage at the Ridgedale/10 interchange. The area is also visible from nearby 287.

One hour for groceries? What's wrong with Trader Joe's?

Have you been to Wegmans? TJs and Wegmans are apples and oranges. Trader Joes would never have something like freshly ground 80/20 ground beef for $1.99 a lb.

Looking forward to it. We love Wegmans and always stop in when we pass by one. Still a little far for us (25 minutes away) but far better than driving to Princeton or Ocean County.

SHUT. UP!!! I know it's got to be built, but wow, this makes me (eventually) happy!

From what I've read, they have a much more thorough hiring process than most supermarkets. They are very selective.

I saw the news yesterday....and am very excited! It will be a welcome addition to the area and might even inspire some of the current grocery stores to get their act together..

I was frustrated a couple of weeks ago when I went to the one Woodbridge and couldn't find anything. They rearranged where everything is and were actually handing out directories to people who asked employees where to find something. I stopped in for two things on the way to work: raisins and brown paper lunch bags. The raisins were in a remote corner on a perpendicular aisle where you normally don't expect to find food. I would have never thought to look there. And I never did find the bags. They weren't listed on the directory.

You can't really blame a supermarket for putting an exotic item like raisins in a remote corner of the store.
