Layover in Madrid

My family arrives in Madrid Friday at 10 and is then going to go elsewhere in Europe at 4 p.m. I was wondering if there was a short excursing (10:30-2) that we could take and maybe have a great Spanish lunch. We don't want to go too far from the airport but we don't want to stay at the airport. Any ideas?

Keep in mind that the earliest a restaurant would start serving lunch here is 1pm (the norm is to start eating around 2:30--many places don't open until 1:30). If you need to be back by 2pm, I think you would be stuck eating a sandwich in a cafe/bar sort of place.

You might take a taxi to this asador located near the airport. I've never been so cannot comment:

(I assume you come from the USA, or international flight)
Me think you will be short on time; getting out of the plane and commuting to the city will take at best 1 hour (if not 1-1/2 hour).
Leaving not much for eating without being rushed and stressed, especially if you find that it tool way to much time getting in the city.
