Layover in Madrid

  • 3

My family arrives in Madrid Friday at 10 and is then going to go elsewhere in Europe at 4 p.m. I was wondering if there was a short excursing (10:30-2) that we could take and maybe have a great Spanish lunch. We don't want to go too far from the airport but we don't want to stay at the airport. Any ideas?

  1. (I assume you come from the USA, or international flight)
Me think you will be short on time; getting out of the plane and commuting to the city will take at best 1 hour (if not 1-1/2 hour).
Leaving not much for eating without being rushed and stressed, especially if you find that it tool way to much time getting in the city.

    1. You might take a taxi to this asador located near the airport. I've never been so cannot comment:

      1. Keep in mind that the earliest a restaurant would start serving lunch here is 1pm (the norm is to start eating around 2:30--many places don't open until 1:30). If you need to be back by 2pm, I think you would be stuck eating a sandwich in a cafe/bar sort of place.
