Went last January. We brought cheese, bread, canned tuna. They will allow USDA approved chicken, but no meat at all. We managed to sneak in a salami but have heard of people having their meat confiscated.
We ate with Chabad on Shabbat which was sufficient, but did not order any meals from them during the week. We went to the Walmart on the first day we were there and stocked up on fruit and veg, eggs, milk, etc. Not an issue to go there during the day, and everyone seems to know how to get there. Take the bus its the cheapest way.
There was a group from the 5 towns at our hotel who had meat shipped from one of the places in Mexico City. No idea how much or if this is financially feasible.
