Where do restaurant people go after work?

I am a new-to-Dallas line cook at a small restaurant downtown. Being from Chicago, I'm used to hitting up a joint at quitting time to get some good (but simple) food, a cold drink, and some conversation with like-minded souls. Unfortunately, my co-workers all have kids or other addictions that they would rather tend to after work.

Does anyone know of a good "industry" spot? Preferably one that stays open (and serving food) late.

Thanks!

    Try Vickery Park on Henderson.

Cock & Bull should be exactly what you're looking for. Low key bar with slightly elevated food and a kitchen that's open very late. I know it used to be an industry spot but am not sure if it's still the current destination for cooks after closing.

Primo's on McKinney has been known to attract a few chef's and kitchen types, too. Especially on week nights.

Mostly Old Monk. Some go to Common Table.

Victor Tango's on Knox-Henderson (get the marrow).

Nova in Oak Cliff (veal short rib tacos, if he's got 'em).

A big second for Nova! Regardless of whether or not you're in the restaurant business. But, shhhh. Don't let the secret out.
Btw, the mussels and the smoked salmon stuffed potato skins are killer good.

Thanks for the compliment. I really appreciate it. But, a big thanks must go to Jon G for originally recommending Nova. I was just seconding his rec.

Thanks man. If you can get a few minutes chatting with chef over there, you'll see the man is serious about his craft.

Third rec for Nova. But please keep it down!
