Incredible smoked sausage in Labadieville, LA!

QueensRepresentative Jul 10, 2012 10:06 PM

My wife and I were heading from New Orleans to Pierre Part to visit a friend, and we were nearly there and drive past a small sign that said "Jambalaya and White Beans $4.50". And, as two adventurous Chowhounders, we had a good feeling about the place, and quickly pulled into the parking lot of Vinnie's Smokehouse. It was possibly the best jambalaya we have ever eaten (my wife is from New Orleans and I've been living down here for 10 years or so - in other words, we've had our share of jambalaya). The white beans were incredible as well - not too salty, perfect texture. As the name says, they smoke all their meat in house - which you can buy at another counter at the side of the building - It is the real deal. The atmosphere is plain cafeteria-like, so I wouldn't make the trek out there for ambience (though it right away felt like a friendly family-run business!). But the smoked sausage is definitely worth the you-long drive.

Would love to hear if other's have been, or know more about Vinnie's?
