NYC Restaurant Week 2012 Suggestions Please!
So I'm really excited about this upcoming Restaurant Week but I'm a little over my head with the huge list of participating restaurants. Does anyone have restaurant suggestions or general tips regarding the event? Any advice is appreciated.

The list is long but contains a few gems. Unfortunately fewer gems than previous years. Many restaurants on that list are not all that interesting; after all, the cream of the crop doesn't really need the advertising that RW brings in.
The better ones are the ones that usually have a weekday lunch prix fixe year round or something similar on the menu (Aldea, Maialino, Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud, Gotham Bar & Grill, Tulsi, Junoon, etc).
Are you interested in lunch or dinner? Are you available to dine during the week for lunch? If so, that opens a LOT of options.
In the past I've heard raves about Riverpark, Quality Meats, Toloache, and Park Ave Summer. I'd personally say that North End Grill may work as well -- Danny Meyer restaurants usually do a good job when they participate (many of them no longer do).

Hey, thanks. I've been to Riverpark before and liked it. I was originally looking for dinner but lunch is an option too. During the week is actually preferred so that's a plus. Do you know of any of the restaurants are farm to table type restaurants? I'll eat anything really but my date isn't a big meat eater. Why do you think? North end grill looks good.

re: Mr_Pink
I think it's because the farm to table restaurants pride themselves on their ingredients, and good, local ingredients are often on the pricier side. The prices of $24.07 and $35 for lunch and dinner during Restaurant Week haven't really kept up with inflation or rising food costs or anything. It's also supposedly been a "loss leader," but many of the restaurants that used to participate (like Gramercy Tavern) no longer do. However, I do recall that GT and Union Square Cafe did their own versions of RW, called "Harvest Week" or something.
