Seeking the best Italian in...

Belleville. BYO is fine. I remember somebosy posting about such a place, but can't seem to find/recall it.

Bellmont Tavern is pretty good food but not much to look at.

Not Belleville but Osteria Giotto in Montclair is very good.

Went to Solar do Minho....not quite Italian but solid Portuguese. Not sure if it will keep me out of the Ironbound, but it's a great alternative if you are close.

We love Solar, but, we have not been there in about a year. I hope that they have not changed too much as I have seen them listed on Groupon and that makes me worry about the quality of the meat as there were hundreds of people who brrought the Groupon offer.

I know I have it on my list of places to try.
Goggle them and you will see all the great reviews.

The food is good, but not great.. The Palermo pie is highly overrated in my opinion. The tomatoes are way too sweet.....The Escarole and Beans is definitely worth ordering if offered.

In part, I think the biggest attraction is due to the reasonable prices and portion sizes. It's worthy of a stop if you are in the area, but I would not considerate a destination place.

It was better before it was sold...we had the Palermo pie about a year ago, then went back a few weeks ago and there was a big differences. LOTS of garlic in the tomato sauce, and the food wasn't that good. However, if you do love garlic, then it might be the place for you.

It was sold? Oh, between what forunder and what you have said it has dropped way down on my must try list especially because parking is usually not easy in that area.
