recommendations for good lunch in Mt. Lebanon?

I'm looking for an interesting restaurant in the South Hills area in which to get a nice, low-key lunch. Off Rt 19 would be good, but good food is most important.

  1. My favorite restaurant in Mt. Lebanon, and I think the best pizza for hundreds of miles is Il Pizzaiolo, on the main drag in Mt. Lebanon - Washington Rd. (Rt. 19).

They are open for lunch, I think at 12. There's a nice dining room and a very nice, shaded courtyard out back if it isn't too hot out.

This isn't your typical pizza joint. Ron makes Neapolitan pies that rival anything you can find the world around. My favorite is the Margherita DOC, which is simply topped with San Marzano tomato sauce, Mozzarella di bufala, parmigiano, basil and olive oil. Nothing I've had there has been bad, though. All of the appetizers I've tried have been fantastic, although I think the arancini is probably my favorite, but the salumi plate is always good, too. Most of the pastas are made fresh in-house (really like the tagliatelle), and all of the dishes are prepared with the top-notch ingredients.

    1. Can't go wrong with Il Piz, but now that KousKous is open for lunch again, that's another great option (Moroccan). The salmon tangine is excellent as are many other dishes. Other good options are Bistro 19 and Little Tokyo.
