seeking bizarre foods hawaiian luau recipe
Aloha - this is a dish called "squid luau" and is made with either ika (squid) or tako (octopus). The Polynesian Cultural Center has a recipe here: http://www.polynesia.com/squid-luau.html or feel free to Google it and find one you're comfortable with. It's a pretty basic, easily accomplished dish to put together: luau leaves, coconut milk, water, ika/tako, salt.
An alternative to using fresh luau leaves if they're not readily available to you is using something like the Ono Ono Hawaiian Luau Leaves found at many Polynesian / Asian stores as well as online. The luau leaves are already stewed and packaged, then frozen and ready for use once thawed (you can also substitute spinach leaves for the luau leaves). Much easier than handling fresh luau leaves and you get to the end results more quickly. Enjoy!
