Please restore Related Discussions font to prior design

Please, please, please get rid of the larger, bolded font recently changed for related discussions. Because of the size, the listing is extremely difficult and off-putting to read, especially with the thread title wrapping and no space between the posts listed. This is another example a change that makes no sense at all: it degrades readability, navigation, and visual appeal. Kind of like the change to the title bar at the top of the page or above a topic once it is opened - that font is too small, not a good color, visually unappealing, poorly spaced, not consistent with the rest of the page/site design. Are there no standards for page appearance or look/feel?

    Hi Janniecooks,

It sounds like you need to clear your browser cache to see the intended design change. You can try to hold shift down while hitting the refresh button on your browser 2 or 3 times, or follow the full clearing of cache from the sticky post at the top of site talk.

Okay, I see a different design from what I saw when I posted yesterday, but it is not an improvement. The new design with huge numbers, and blue font is not an improvement over the prior design. The blue font is too light on the grey background, is still hard to read, but the spacing is definitely improved over the bolded lowercase font I saw yesterday. Please restore the previous design.

the turquoise color is almost unreadable and the large numbers reduce the space for content. since Related discussions is one of the most useful features, these are not good changes. Note its more useful than Most Recent discussions which you can see easily by going over to the main board page anyway. It should not be de-emphasized, especially given the inadequacy of our search.

I agree, the blue font is almost unreadable and Related discussions is far more useful than Recent discussions

4th. i've said in several other threads that the neon blue needs to go. it's a horrid clash with the darker blue used in links and people's user names.

standardize on that darker blue . . . please!!

As Ive said above, the turquoise is almost unreadable esp on my office pc. The trend toward really faint typefaces is deplorable - I dont think its only my aging eyes that have a problem with this!

So the PTB have responded to CHers complaints by changing the font, font color, and possibly font size. But they've only responded to the aesthetics, and failed to explain the pointless reduction in functionality that was implemented with the change in Related Discussion and the addition of "Trending Now". Trending Now is completely unnecessary as it merely lists the top five posts from the board - something a user will see if they use the board listing. And why allow five posts here, for something that is merely a repetition of the board home page, while something incredibly useful (especially given the poor functionality of search on CH), namely the Related Discussions, is now relegated to JUST THREE POSTS!!! And why the ordinal ranking made literal with the addition of numbers? Are the readers of this board not intelligent enough to intuit ordinal ranking from the order in which the posts are displayed? How do the ugly, big numbers add to reader comprehension and site useability? Not at all, completely redundant. And prior to this pointless change related discussions was dynamically sized according to the number of relevant results, I guess in the algorithm used to populate it. Now it would appear that dynamically sized sections are being abandoned in favor of fixed sections, presumably to allow more advertising.

Only THREE posts for relevant discussions, something that cannot easily be found by readers, in favor of FIVE posts for "trending now" which merely repeats the top five listings of the home page? I don't get it and the lack of response is defeaning.

I couldnt agree more - "trending" has no utility and "related discussions" which is much less useful as a result of the design change - if trending was removed and related discussions was re-expanded, with the ordinals removed, it would be a great enhancement. Its seems like this is all being done to fit in more visuals and ads, but I hope CH will continue to work on restoring one of the most useful features on the boards!

note, the trending with the italic font is still ugly and clashes in style with the rest of the site and the line (dont know what it is called) at the head of this column which shows which board we are on is still in that squinty almost invisible turquoise color.
