Italian Sausage Purveyors

I’m looking for a place to buy high quality Italian sausage (both hot and sweet), preferably in Northern Virginia. Anyone got a place they can recommend?

Canales Deli in Eastern Market. I know it is not NoVA but it is that bad of a trip.

Mr. Canales used to get his Italian from Nick's of Clinton, I'm not sure who his purveyor is these days but I have not noticed any difference.

In the past Mr. Canales has also special ordered the Italian Sausage in rope form instead of links for my cookouts.

Wegmans also has decent Italian sausage, it isn't as good as what Canales Deli peddles but it is OK.

I have not been impressed by Whole Foods, the texture was off. Perhaps a bad day but I have been unwilling to give it a second shot.

The best in the area is from Giant Eagle on 7th Street in Frederick. Lean, spicy, delicious. They sell it loose as well as link, which is great for chili or spaghetti sauce. Very little fat or shrinkage. Natural casing, smokes up great.

I have to imagine that the Italian Store in Arlington would have it.
