Kosher at JFK
My son and a friend are going to be at JFK airport on Sunday waiting for a Birthright trip for about 12 hours. They're flying Delta and El Al. I noticed on older threads there may be kosher food there. Any updates from the Chowhound nation?

Terminal 5. Kosher food (at airport prices, of course) and free Wifi. (The train between terminals is free)

Folks, travel advice about how sharonfl's son and his friend should spend their twelve-hour layover at JFK is off-topic for Chowhound; we've removed a number of posts. If you've got any specific suggestions on restaurants they might want to check out away from the airport, that'd be great, but 'go see a Broadway show' (and 'no, don't go see a Broadway show') is really too far afield for us.

re: sharonfl
For 12 hours they should have enough time to leave the airport. They can get from JFK to Midtown in 1-1.5 hours(depending on if they do subway or LIRR). Even after getting back to JFK 3 hours before their flight, that still leaves them 6 hours to eat in midtown. You can check Koshertopia for a map of kosher restaurant options in the area.
