i have to pick someone up at SFO at ~2:45 pm on next week tuesday. i'd like to be able to go to lunch there, but is it possible for me to go around opening, eat, then get to SFO in time?

  1. Will you be dining alone? And how are you getting to the airport?

At that time of day, driving to the airport will only take 15 or 20 mins, and taking BART will only take about 35....the restaurant opens at 11:30 for lunch, so I think that if you arrive when it opens, you'll be totally fine.

That said, I wasn't a huge fan of Mission Chinese when I went in the winter. See: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/829296 I do think I should go back sometime soon to try a few other things, and give it a second chance, but the line is always so long. Perhaps early on a Tuesday is really the best time to go!

    1. Seems like plenty of time to me. Middle of Tuesday afternoon it should only take about 20 minutes to drive to SFO.

      1. thanks for the replies. i'll be dining with my cousin. i'm in sacramento and don't get to go sf all that often. want to try something that will be somewhat special.

I have heard MC as being different and unique, but never as special. Most folks either love it or hate it. Just be sure you like your food spicy because most of the more popular dishes are tongue numbing.

It's special in the sense that you're not going to get that food anywhere else. I found it hit and miss, I'd only order two of the five dishes I tried again.
