No reviews on Hefling's? [Suburban Detroit]
I recently discovered Hefling's Amish farm market in Mt. Clements. Unless I'm terribly mistaken, it seems like a very chow-ish market. They sell naturally raised meats, including grass-fed beef, cheese, and prepared items. Produce is coming later this month. I bought grass-fed "wafer steak" (see my post on the Home Cooking board) and rump roast. This will be my first grass-fed beef experience. I'll post on my results.
We did a walk thru of this meat shop Friday. Didn't purchase anything, but were charmed by the staff and the gorgeous selections of beef for purchase in the Cold Room. So, after some discussion, my wife and I will be back to make future purchases here. With price creep affecting every place we buy meats, paying a small premium for grass fed, humanely raised product at Hefling's is no longer a deal killer.
Two things I noticed first is a massive sign declaring all the products offered for sale are DRUG FREE--the stores pronouncement, not mine. Another sign is a red slash through GMO.
The second thing I noticed was the amount of filet mignon out and ready for sale. They were either expecting a huge catering sale, or they don't have trouble moving this cut on a weekend.
The store is shuttered Sundays and Mondays.
