best masala chai in LA.

Does anyone know where to get really good masala chai in LA?
I''m just back from India, by way of Paris.
Ideally, the place would sell it in 5 gallon drums.(partially kidding, but seriously, I drank a lot of chai)

Everybody has their own way of making it, and everyone uses different spices. It's become so commercialized, you can get it at Starbucks. For more authentic, just head to any Indian restaurant or India Sweets and Spices.

It's super easy to make at home. Takes all of 5 minutes.

Good advice - "everyone has it, go make it yourself" ; )

If you're talking about Starbuck's "chai latte", I'm not sure that's what the OP was looking for. I guess I see it on menus everywhere but I'm not sure where to actually buy it, and would have no clue how to make it at home. The Sweets and Spices place I've been to in Riverside has a thermos of it up front, but last time I asked they didn't actually carry any product like a mix for sale, only the spice mix (the masala part) that I guess you add to tea? (per my Indian friend with me). Anyway, I picked up a decent Malaysian version of the instant stuff from Yazmin in Alhambra, sold in bags of maybe 20 single-serve packets up at the register. I've looked at Ralphs/Vons for years and haven't seen it, but maybe I don't know what I'm looking for. Or is that stuff like Oregon chai latte roughly the same? (never bought it so have no idea)

      Hello, adrouault.

I know that you specified LA in your search, but if you are interested in ordering chai online, I have a couple of sources to offer. Let me know by viewing my profile and emailing me. Alternatively, you can post an online request on the General Boards and I will respond there.
