Lago Trasimeno

I've searched through many Umbria and Tuscany posts but have not found any recommendations for eating the local cuisine on lake Trasimeno. The vegetarian restuarant, Montali, sounds delicious but i would prefer the lake fish. I am here two nights and would like a simple, traditional meal at a fair price. I have the guide for the area restuarants but do not want to end up anywhere too touristy. Any suggestions?

Have your guidebooks mentioned this restaurant, recommended by Gambero Rosso? I mention it because it is all about the lake fish:

Any trustworthy locals with whom you can consult about whether this restaurant is worthwhile? I haven't eaten there myself.

Thank you for the suggestion, barberienibee. We ended up eating there -- the carp was great as well as the pici with goose sauce. The perch fillet and minestrone were good, but not great. We were hoping for more of a hole in the wall, but are very happy that we got to try the carp cooked in porchetta.

Glad to hear you were overall pleased. I happened to stop by my office today where I have a copy of the 2011 Osterie d'Italia guide, and it was recommended there as well as a Slow Food pick.
