Looking for Bun Cha, the Hanoi lunch favorite, in Boston. Any Suggestions

I'm looking for the Hanoi lunch favorite - Bun Cha. Any suggestions for a place in Boston? I tried Pho 2000 but the grilled meatball Bun on their menu definitely isn't it. I'm looking for the classic BBQ/chargrilled minced pork balls with bun. Thanks.

I think it's true that you won't find true Hanoi style bun cha anywhere in the Boston area. However, I think they used to have a reasonable approximation at Pho So 1 in Dorchester. Not sure if it's still on the menu.

Not at Pho So 1 in Dorchester for sure. I'm their most frequent daily customer for many years, until they change owner last year, and there is no such thing. Their bun tom thit nuong used to be very darn good.

I'm not aware of anywhere that serves Northern-style grilled meat (charred and served in a bowl of fish sauce) or pho (light and plain in flavor, optionally served with some of that meat) in the Boston area. I wish!

Given that most American Vietnamese are from the south originally, you may have a hard time finding Hanoi-style dishes. I have a friend from Hanoi who went to college in New England and she was never able to find anything familiar in Boston, though this was a few years back. You're looking for bun cha hanoi or bung cha dong xuan...which don't exist in Boston. The closest place that have it is in Montreal at Hanoi Restaurant. Or you need to go to Orange County.
