Slaters Burger?
Anyone had a 50/50 burger (50% ground beef and 50% ground bacon), how was it?
Who will be the first to try and report back here on the "Merica" burger, ground bacon, topped by a sunnyside up egg, "bacon island" dressing and bacon cheddar cheese?

Apparently, Slater's 50/50 is offering a 100% ground bacon "burger": http://losangeles.grubstreet.com/2012...
No Servorg, I won't! LOL!

I just went for the 1st time on Memorial Day to the Anaheim Hills location and loved the 50/50 burger. I also loved their onion rings although, they were a little greasy. I thought that their beer was overpriced and some weren't fresh.

My understanding is that they don't cook the 50/50 burgers less than well done. Is that true? I don't like burgers unless they're medium rare because they get way too dry normally. And we'll be awarding you the Chowhound "Purple Intestine" medal for your bravery after earlier reports of gastric distress... ;-D>

Myself, don't like the 50/50. The appeal of crisp bacon strips on a burger I totally understand. Raw ground bacon mixed with ground beef cooked until it's lost the bacon's flabby fattiness is simply overcooked meat. So I'm not inclined to try or like the `Merica burger. Good PR stunt, though.
I do love their turkey burger with cranberry sauce and gravy. Their Peanut Butter and Jealousy burger is delicious too, in a weird way.

re: Professor Salt
Knowing your prowess with bacon and sausage in the smoker I am glad you weighed in here, and I think you are right, a ground bacon burger is just a stunt. A lot of their food appears to be stunts designed to stimulate the sale of and consumption of copious amounts of beer. I'd still like to watch someone eat one of their "Merica" burgers in its entirety, kind of like the vicarious thrill of watching Adam Rich make a pig of himself.

Tried the one with bacon, guacamole, and fried egg. It's no worse than an In-N-Out double double. Better than a Counter burger. Not nearly as good as a FO burger. The draw for Slaters 50/50 is the 30-40 types of beer on tap. Those burgers go well with a pint of St Bernardus or Delerium Tremens and a 49'ers football game.

Ate half of a left-over 50/50 from earlier in an evening. Regurgitated burger bile for the rest of the night well into early morning. NOT food poisoning (Chowmod: don't delete), just genuinely grossed out. One of the least enjoyable burger experiences ever. I'd pick any Rick's Burger over this.
It's sad OC subjects itself to this over and over again.

I'd wondered the same thing a while back and had some replies from hounds who have had "buds on the ground" experience with their burgers: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/7513...
Perhaps a "houndly excursion" is in the order for those living in the, oh say, Chino area? ;-D>
