Singapore Style Jerky

I love me some good jerky. Especially the Singapore Style stuff. I usually stock up from Bee Kim Heng whenever I visit friends and family in Vancouver. I've been known to devour entire 1 lb packs in one sitting...

It's been a while since I've made the trip to Vancouver, so I've been in a jerky drought.. until one day my friend texted me that he found some Golden Island at Costco. I've found it at both the west and south Edmonton Costco stores.

This is the stuff:

They also make beef jerky. I wonder if i can convince our Costco to bring that in.

It's good. Really good. Not BKH, but close. No burnt tips either. Only downside is that the product is from the USA. $11 for a 415g bag, that's almost half of what BKH charges.

So if you've got a craving for good asian style jerky, try this out. It's in the gum and candy aisle.

You mean I don't have to hoard that last package of Vancouver pork jerky anymore? Yay!

Good to know. BTW, BKH does have an online shop. It's pricy ($27.95 for 1lb), and the shipping is a flat $10. But, if you got the craving... :-)

if you are inclined, there are quite a few recipes for making this at home.

here's one, and you can just google "bak kwa"

cheaper all around and with tweaks to personal taste, probably even better.
