      Close to your hotel:

Chaya Brasserie (Japanese fusion) is within walking distance to the Sofitel.
Bao Dim Sum House on Beverly Blvd. is at most a 5-minute drive.
Nobu Matsuhisa's flagship restaurant Matsuhisa (Peruvian-Japanese fusion) is on La Cienega, just north of Wilshire.
Further north, another Nobu restaurant, Nobu Los Angeles, is also on La Cienega.
Red Medicine (fusion/modern Vietnamese cuisine), on Wilshire.

+1 each to Bao and Red Medicine. If the OP decided on Chaya, Savored.com offers up to 30% off there and other places all over L.A.

Matsuhisa, Nobu's first restaurant is just a few blocks away for some truly wonderful food.
