Distrito or Barrio Queen?

Hey folks, I'm looking for an update on both Distrito and Barrio Queen. Thinking about hitting one of them tonight or sometime this week. Is Barrio Queen as good as Barrio? Is Distrito living up to its taco champion status or sinking with all the rest of the spots that inhabit the cursed Saguaro-Mondrian-Theodore space? (I really liked Asia de Cuba BTW).

Or, should I just skip both and head back to my fav - The Mission?

We dined at Barrio Queen a couple months ago and it was definitely not up to the quality of the original Barrio. Neither the food nor the service impressed us favorably. Haven't been to Distrito yet, but our last experience at Mission was first rate.

That is good to know. My wife is NOT a fan of even the original Barrio, so this will further detract us from going there.

Distrito has a discount on local dines - so with the discount i would be tempted to try it again

Stay away from anything on the happy hour menu because it was not very good

I liked their shrimp tacos, the pork shoulder i had was not very good and too sweet - and everything off the happy hour menu was forgetable or bad

Thanks, Dapuma. Ended up at the Mission...just loved the Duck empanadas, pork belly pibil, scallop tacos, skirt steak tacos, and pumpkin bread pudding. I also wanted a nice dark chill spot last night. We will get over to Distrito eventually, unless it meets the fate of others in that spot.
