Spirit to Mix w/Chai?
Any thoughts on a spirit to mix with Chai?
The tea is generally Keyhung the homemade Masala quite spicy & I thought Brandy (Paarl IIRC) would work but ended up with a thin brassy taste that didn't suit.
Something brown and "warm" -- an aged molasses-based rum, apple brandy / calvados, bourbon, or even rye.
Rum would have the advantage that you can look to pie-spice flavored ingredients like Falernum and Pimento Dram in Tiki recipes for inspiration.

In Austria there's a tradition of making a fortified tea called Jägertee ("hunter's tea") with strong rum and sometimes kirsch. I agree with EvergreenDan that rum would be a pretty good flavor match with chai.
