San Francisco Soup Company, Jamba Juice and all varieties of frozen yogurt, ice cream and milk shakes were my (unexciting) go-tos during a long period of a soft food diet. I also found I was often able to eat hummus, well-cooked beans, and the like, and had some success with Middle Eastern food.

There is a great thread somewhere on Chowhound about soft foods diets that might be very useful to get ideas of what could be eaten, and then you could think about restaurants from there.

Well, it looks like there's a Melt in SOMA. I haven't been to that one, but I tried the one in the Stanford Shopping Center and it's nothing special. The tomato soup would work in a pinch.
