SOCAL with kids
I will be spending a week in southern California (LA and Laguna Beach) next month. As I will be with the entire family, I would love to hear recommendations for restaurants that are child friendly (7 and 13). Love good food but anything fancy is a non starter. I guess that leaves delis, diners, ethnic, and everything else. Will have a car and willing to travel for something really good or unique. From reading the boards, it sounds like Langers Deli would be a great place to start. Any other suggestions? Thanks.
In LA casual kid friendly spots that are fun for the entire family include the permanent Farmer's Market http://www.farmersmarketla.com/history/marketfacts.html at 3rd and Fairfax for Short Order http://www.shortorderla.com/or Loteria Grill http://www.loteriagrill.com/ or Singapore's Banana Leaf etc., along with the Country Mart http://brentwoodcountrymart.com/food/ in Brentwood (Sweet Rose Creamery and Farmshop along with Reddi Chick)
I agree with Servog's suggestions, Some other LA friendly family spots include Pizzeria Mozza, Lawry's The Prime Rib in Beverly Hills ( a little fancy), Fogo de Chao (Brazilian BBQ meats cut and served at your table but also a little fancy) The Griddle Cafe's giant pancakes, Philippes The Original for french dips, 800 Degrees (build your own pizza), Lemonade ( a small salad and sandwich chain) Pann's diner, Brent's Deli, Neptune's Net in Malibu, Mendocino Farms & Bay Cities Italian Deli for sandwiches, C & O for Italian in the Marina area, In n' Out and the Apple Pan for burgers, suprisingly good food at the Getty Center, Big Wok in Manhattan Beach and Sea Harbour for Dim Sum. Langer's Deil will not dissapoint just know they close at 4pm and all day Sundays. Let me know what area you are staying in and I can help more. Welcome to LA.
