Garden Dining for a small banquet in Charleston
I have recently been engaged and am planning a wedding for no more than 35-38 people. The reception will be in Charleston, SC. I live in Baltimore and have never been to Charleston.
I am very attracted to the Peninsula Grill because of its reputation and the garden dining. I am not necessarily in love with their banquet menus or their pricing.
Even a slight drop in price might help and I can consider a Thursday wedding as a bargaining tool but it will be difficult as I plan on asking my job for an obnoxious amount of time off for my honeymoon.
Is there another choice in Charleston for a beautiful outdoor garden setting for my reception dinner that is slightly less expensive but caters to my Chowish needs?
*The garden setting is the main question as I've read the boards for my other needs.
Are you willing to go outside the Historic District? Space is limited in the HD so garden settings aren't the norm. You might look at 82 Queen. It's not as high end as Peninsula Grill, but the outdoor seating is nice. Another option is the COurtyard at Charleston Place.
You also might want to call PG and tell them what you want. They are very accommodating.
re: Sue in Mt P
I think I want to reframe my post.
You want to plan something and you haven't been here, It's your wedding. You can't possibly rely on us to tell you what to do. What will you do if it rains? And it does. You need to visit, and decide what works for your needs. Charleston might sound romantic, but you need to know if it fits your needs. My wedding was in my hometown. I got tastings for the reception, and a lot of other information. You should too.
