The best French Onion Soup?

nycguy20011 Jun 29, 2012 07:53 PM

Which restaurant has the best French Onion Soup?

The broth should be flavorful but not too salty.

The soups at Rue 57 and Cassis were okay, but nothing to write home about, so I have yet to find one that's memorable and amazing.

Because I haven't been to a lot of places, I really don't have enough information to say whose onion soup is best. But just in case no-one else has any reply for you, I've enjoyed the onion soup at Pastis, and since you don't mention them, maybe you haven't tried theirs.

I've enjoyed the onion soup at Balthazar. It's the same owners as Pastis,so I wouldn't be surprised if they were similar. Whether it is the best or not I don't know, but it is delicious

Love the French onion soup at Artisanal. Broth is very flavorful, and the cheese topping is wonderful which one would expect since they are a known for their cheeses.

The French Onion Soup at both Artisanal and Balthazar are wonderful.
