Michael Stebner, True Food Kitchen

Looks like Michael Stebner is returning to San Diego with a chain based out of Phoenix called True Food Kitchen. Has anyone eaten at the Phoenix location?

Region R.I.P......sigh, I loved that place.

        Friends went. Said food was great but place had the air of a food factory. Granted, a factory of delcious food. I can most definitely say that almost NOTHING would get me to brave Fashion Valley area traffic to go to a restaurant there. But if it's that big and has to serve lots of folks at once, maybe FV is the location for them. Personally I want chefs behind my food, not Dr Weil, Dr Phil, or Dr Drew.

          The space they went into *is* pretty big. There are some tricks to getting in and out of FV without all the hassel. I ususally go in the back way off of Camino del Rio North and I usually park in the structure in pack of Macy's and then use the sky bridge into Macy's and cut through to the mall. Unfortunately, this isn't all that close to True Food and it's at the congested end of the mall.

          Nathan Coulon is going to be the exec. chef and if a Dr. has to be behind the food, I'd certainly want it to be Dr. Weil. His approach to food is pretty realistic, down-to-earth and sane.

            Soft opening was Wednesday. Solid place, good food and a large open space. Definite move up in the food department for Fashion Valley. For the people who want silence when eating, probably not for you. The wood reflects a lot of sound. I don't see it as a big deal but people who for example think wine vault is loud, which is ridiculous, this place is on par.

              Really looking forward to this, Region was ahead of its time for SD and I hope to finally have some decent food options in Fashion Valley when I am forced to go to that area.
