Wonderful Dinner at Lotus Blue

We had a delicious dinner at Lotus Blue (the new Yunnan resto in Tribeca) Wednesday. I haven't seen much about it here so I thought I'd let you know.

We started with two salads served in half-portions to each of us -- chrysanthemum leaves for one, and banana blossoms with mango for the 2nd. Both were delicious, with just the right amount of heat from chiles. (I'm hot a super-high heat lover.) Next we had the pork meatballs. Oh my! I could have eaten a dozen of them. The sauce was so good I wanted to lick the bowl. Roasted Sea Bass was excellent -- even better when we paired the mint on the plate with each bite.

We also had the 3 Delights Cross Bridge Noodles. That's a soup with shrimp, chicken, pork, a quail egg and veggies in the broth with the noodles. I liked it a lot, but it didn't really go with the other dishes we were eating. I would get that again for lunch.

For dessert we had the Coconut Tapioca pudding. I have never had such lovely tapioca. Each bead was like a little pearl in your mouth and the flavors were subtle and not too sweet. A great finish!

Now I need to go back for the ribs.....

I like their fried rice with turnip and pork. Their dishes during the first month of opening were quite spicy . They toned it down, and if you want a dish spicy you must ask.
