puff pastry in a square block........
...ready to roll out with a rolling pin and use
a few years back in the CBC series "the great food revolution" (episode one) there was a brief clip of a turnover being made to be photographed for an ad campaign. the puff pastry was in block form and rolled out with a rolling pin......it has been a staple in england for years and years....they say that hat the all butter puff pastry is the best.....
from what i could determine, the segment was shot in either the province of Quebec or Ontario in Canada.....
what i was wondering was is this product available in canada and is it available in the US?????
have not seen it in my travels, tho they are limited.....
any help and thoughts are appreciated....thanks to all

Actually tried my hand at making puff pastry a few months ago. Isn't difficult to do... just takes time. Was very pleased with results. With the cost of butter... frozen is porbably a good deal.

re: kseiverd
thanks for the responses.....off a to a good start.......from what i have seen i like the blocks more than the sheets (pepperidge farm)....better control on the size and thickness.......net thing will be to try and find the blocks here in the states, if they exist in that form
thanks again!!

I have seen two commonly available types of puff pastry in Canada (Nova Scotia). There is the block ready to roll out (Tenderflake is a common brand) but ive not seen it made from butter. However, President's Choice makes a butter puff pastry. It is already in a rolled out square. I've used it many times and have been happy.
