Mission/Abbotsford area for FIL's 80th birthday lunch

My wife's dad turned 80 this month and she and I were thinking about going to visit him and taking him out for lunch. He's not that particular about food but we wanted something more special than a White Spot. He lives in "deep" Mission, and we'd be coming over on the ferry from the Island for the day only (he doesn't have a place for us to stay) so it isn't really practical to drive him all the way into Vancouver.

Anybody know of a lunch spot that is above average in either Mission or Abbotsford? I'm thinking it's too bad that Ah-Beetz closed down (that would have been perfect).

Thanks in advance

  1. How about Restaurant 62? (I have not been, but have heard good things).

That looks perfect, fmed. Thanks for the tip. I'll let you know how it was (we'd probably be going next week).

    2. Ah-Beetz closed down? Restaurant 62 is probably the best choice.

No, sorry, I think I'm totally wrong about Ah-Beetz. I know that it had changed hands, but I was wrong in stating that it had closed. It's website looks very active.

      2. Since you're starting in Mission I'd stick with Resto 62, but about 15 mins away in Aldergrove is Seasonal 56 (http://www.seasonal56.ca/index.htm) which is our new favorite place in the Valley. I recommend it for other Van foodies and check out their Designated Driver Program if you have a group that wants some wine.
