Punjabi Tandoor--what to order

  • 5

I was reading some posts about Indian food and a lot of people on this board seem to think that PT has some of the best Indian food in town. I have been there a few times and thought it was good but was not blown away by anything I had so I was wondering if there were certain dishes that people recommend. Is it better to order off the menu then to get the items they have in the buffet? I really enjoy Surati Farsan but want to know if I have been missing something at PT. Also, are there any other Indian places worth trying in that area of town or elsewhere? It seems those are the 2 that are mentioned the most but I would think there would be other good ones out there.

  1. Actually, I don't know that
repeat visits to Punjabi Tandoor would change things.
I found their dishes to just be
    consistently
    creamy.
    I sometimes like
Annapurna, when I want something different from Surati Farsan.

    1. Punjabi might be the best Indian food in SD together with Surati Farsan but you shouldn't expect too much. It is good but not outstanding food and more recently they also have consistency problems.

Yes. My go-to is the 2 meat combo. I agree though that they have consistency problems – I find that sometimes the naan and the chicken are overcooked. Lamb is usually done nicely though.

        1. I usually get the Chicken Makhani and the Rogan Josh. Chicken Makhani is the best I've had anywhere.

          1. It's the best of that style I've had in San Diego. It pales in comparison to the Indian places in Berkeley and SF. Insert Berlin/Paris jibes here.
