Paris Bastille Day

FLtexan Jun 26, 2012 08:48 AM

We will be in Paris for my husband's birthday over Bastille weekend. (Just out second visit.) We love all kinds of great food. We plan to picnic on the 14th. Is Rue de Cler open on Bastille day, Sat. July 14?
We are staying on Champs Elysees at Rue La Boelle.
Suggestions for dinners, especially on the Monday?

Um, where is rue la Boelle ?

Closures on 14 Juillet are never predictable. But I'm sure some shops on the rue Cler will be open but who knows which ones. If you are planning to picnic on the Champs de Mars, get there early if you want a good spot for watching the fireworks (at 11pm) at Trocadéro. If you are in Paris on 13 July, you might also like to investigate one of the traditional bal des pompiers/ block parties outside various fire stations. None in walking distance of the horrible Champs Elysées (not a place for real life) but I'd recommend the one at the Arène de Lutèce in the 5th or the place Violet/ rue des Entrepreneurs in the 15th. Usually from 9pm to 1am.

Monday dining? Lots of choices. Can you be a bit more specific about your style preferences and budget?

"where is rue la Boelle ?"
      The hint is Champs.
      Could it be Boétie ?
