Foie Gras recommendations for South Bay?

Hi all - I want to take my mom out for some Foie Gras (before the ban) as she never had it before. I live in LA and will be visiting sister in Santa Clara. Can anyone recommend any good restaurants (medium to high end) that serve foie gras? I've read about Alexanders and Arcadia but would love to hear what the locals have to say if I've missed out on any others or if you can vouch for these places. Much Thanks!

Foie gras ban proves confusing, hard to enforce: http://www.sfgate.com/food/article/Fo...

Hi all - I would like to bump this again. Would still like some more feedback for any recommendations (restaurants) in south bay area? Has anyone been to Arcadia? I'm located in South Bay Area near Santa Clara. Thanks in advance!

We ended up at the Little Chef Counter (in San Jose) after discovering they had a farewell to foie gras lineup. Unfortunately, after a two hour standing wait, the last three pan seared foie gras items were sold to the three patrons in right IN FRONT of us (damn you bastards!). LCC also sold out of the strip steak and other foie gras items so instead were forced to order the chicken. Talk about bad timing. Also, the portions they stuffed in the chicken was very small. It was obvious they were trying to milk the last of the foie gras and marking up each of the menu entrees. We barely had a morsel of foie gras in each piece of chicken. I'm thinking Arcadia (where we had reservations) would of been a better choice but by the time it was our turn to order our reservation time had passed. This was only my second time having foie gras and sadly it was worst than the first time. Also, by far the worst meal I've had since it was served a bit lukewarm. Disappointed.

What a shame. During this heightened period of demand for foie gras, quite a few restaurants that had not served it before rushed in and that lack of experience shows.

            Anyway, here's the culprit's website.

Hope you've found some other delicious things to eat during your visit.

There's a great picture of the foie gras at Sent Sovi in Saratoga today on SFGate. Haven't been so can't offer a personal opinion.

Looks interesting! I think Saratoga might be a bit of a stretch in travel and arrangements. Any personal insight on some of the local restaurants I mentioned? I suppose I can check on yelp but would like to get more feedback from the chow hound folks. Anyone else? Thanks in advance.

Edit - I found some more related discussions on chow.

Here's arlenemae's post on the foie courses at Alexander's Steakhouse in Cupertino.

I wouldn't think that an additional five miles to Saratoga over Cupertino would be much of a driving stretch for someone from Los Angeles! :)
