Restaurants near Disney Concert Hall - suitable for kids/teens

hipmaman Jun 25, 2012 09:54 PM

I am looking for some suggestions for lunch, within walking distance to the Disney Concert Hall on S. Grand Ave (in LA). It's for a group of pre-teens/teens on their own, during lunch break, with adult chaperones and they would not have any transportation to and from the Hall, so walking distance is a must and within reasonable price range would be great ($10-15).

They will have a dinner break at California Pizza Kitchen, so I thought something different than Italian for lunch and maybe other than the Concert Hall Cafe w/in the Hall, for those with a bit more time to leave the Hall.

Thank you.

    Have you considered the DASH?

If you use the DASH, I would suggest Philippes.

Mendocino Farms or Starry Kitchen at California Plaza might be good, walkable choices.

Mendacino Farms is a good choice. Also Lemonade at Moca.

It depends on how much time they have. Grand Central Market is about 5-6 blocks away. It has a variety of different foods they can choose from among the different stalls -- all very cheap. They can choose from burritos at Ana Maria's, tacos or tortas at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas, pupusas at Sarita’s Pupuseria, Maria's for ceviche, aguas frescas and desserts at La Adelita. There also are stalls with Middle Eastern and Chinese food.

Mendocino Farm, Starry Kitchen, Blue Cow Kitchen or Ocho Mexican Grill on Grand Ave.

Alternatively, take Angel's Flight down to Grand Central Market. I like MF Gourmet inside the market. There's also a Local Express at the entrance to the market.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll pass them along to the chaperones.
