Need a cool LA spot for rehearsal dinner..large group (30 ppl)... think Dar Maghreb

Helping my best friend plan her wedding rehearsal dinner... searching for a cool, laid-back but still nice venue. Around 30 people, looking to spend about $60 bucks a head.
Her first thought was Dar Maghreb, but that's closed for renovations... but something like that, with a similar fun and slightly off-beat vibe. Food doesn't have to be great (willing to sacrifice a little for great atmosphere) but definitely decent+. Looking for something memorable, and would love suggestions! They live in Silver Lake, but open to pretty much anywhere on the Eastside (downtown, hollywood, WeHo, etc). Thanks so much!!

PS... for point of reference, other ideas being tossed around are La Serenata de Garibaldi in Boyle Heights, Cafe Stella... and the Mozza private room in a dream world where they would actually let you rent it for 60 a person...

Papa Cristos on Pico near Western could be a fun choice for Greek.

If you are going with Greek - Papa Cristos - WHILE AN INSTITUTION- lacks in every category she mentions.

Greek for the cost that is GOOD, with a very pretty patio, live music and they will smash plates for you is Sofis on 3rd.
