Good restaurants near Embassy Suites in Montreal

We will be in Montreal July 23-25th and staying at the Embassy Suites near Old Montreal. We will have a car but prefer to ride the metro or walk to the restaurants. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have looked up many of the suggestions on the Montreal restaurant board but none seem to fit the bill. Thanks.

What bill are you trying to fit? Bistro or ethnic? Cheap and cheerful or high end?

The bill I was trying to fit was that the restaurant be within walking distance or accessible by metro from our hotel. Thanks for the input. We love good food especially if its a good value. We are open to anything.

You are close to Chinatown - there are lots of recommendations on the board, my favourites include Mai Ziang Yuan for dumplings (1084 Blvd St Laurent), Beijing for classic Chinese (92 rue de la Gauchetière Ouest) and Pho Bang New York (1001 Blvd St Laurent). All of these places offer a good quality to price ratio.

You're near the Old Montreal so you've got tons of choices... Within walking distance you have Bar & Boeuf, Accords, Osteria Venti, Club Chasse et Pêche, Garde-Manger, Les 400 coups, Le Gros Jambon, Olive et Gourmando, Sinclair, Le Cartet, the new Bevo Pizzeria... Just avoid restaurants near the Place Jacques Cartier, mainly tourists traps.

But you're close to a metro too... so you're pretty much close to anything you want...

This is a good list. I loved Venti and Olive & Gourmando & liked Bar & Boeuf. The others I have not tried, but they are on my list. I would also add Toque (just a block away from the hotel), da Emma & Bonaparte. And Bremner?
