Bistros in Paris

I will be in Paris in July and have narrowed it down to these restaurants:

L ami Jean
Le Epi Dupin
Chez Georges
maybe La Fountain De Mars???

Any thoughts and/or recommendations on these places and what to order? Also, do I need to make reservations now for middle of July?? Thanks in advance!

  1. Your 4 choices have been regularly reviewed on this board. What do you think of the reviews ?

"do I need to make reservations now for middle of July??"

Yes. And verify that they are not closed on vacation or for the Bastille Day period.

    1. I've never had a bad anything at L'Epi Dupin. We were last there in March, and it was nice to see the room had been scaled up and the service was excellent as was the food. For what they charge, I think it's a bargain in Paris.

      1. I lunched at CLJ last week. I had the cote de boeuf with the petoncles starter plus dessert, and couldn't eat for the following 24 hours. There has been some ambiguity about where he's sourcing his beef these days, but it was a very nice piece. At 90 euro, I am guessing about a 35-40 euro/kg street price.

We also committed a food crime by taking a Paris Brest to go and having it melt on the way to visit friends, ...which our friends found hysterical <facepalm>..

        1. Thanks for your replies. Will check out the other posts too.
