O barquiero (Marisqueira O Barqueiro): We ate here based on a chowhound recommendation and were REALLY disappointed. It was really touristy and the most expensive meal of our trip (happy to spend money but not on the worst restaurant we ate in!). We really hated it here . . .
Restaurante Mozart: Food was good, cannot complain - a bit "fussy" in my opinion - I tended to enjoy the more simple, local places but that is a personal preference. The food here was pretty good and we ate outside
Dos Combatentes: Food was really good (maybe with the exception of the skewer beef). Lots of locals eating here, we went for mid-week lunch and it had a bit of a fancy work lunch feel to it. We liked it a lot, though there is no outside eating.
Xopana Restaurant: We stayed at the Choupana Hills (loved it by the way, a bit out of town but cabs were cheap and nice to get out of the busy town). The food was Italian I think and very nice but for me, I preferred to eat more local cuisine which this was not really. Also, I'm not sure I would have made the trip if we weren't staying in the hotel. If you are staying, it is an obvious choice.
Gaviao Novo: Someone in the hotel recommended it and we thought it had great, fresh seafood. Lots of tourists but not touristy if that makes sense, would recommend this for sure.
Doca do Cavacas: We loved it, tacky decor (too rainy for us to sit outside) but the best, fresh seafood, super casual, good lunch spot, great views. Lots of locals eating there when we went.
