Taking 5 teenage boys to a 7:30 show in a couple of weeks. Anywhere suitable nearby to grab dinner pre-show?

Rangoon, just around the corner from the Troc, is my favorite. You'll be right in Chinatown so search CH for Chinatown recs.

Vietnam might be the most approachable, Sammy Chon's might work too, but I'd go to Dim Sum Garden and get the Shanghai Steamed Juicy Buns (soup dumplings).

An alternative to Dim Sum Garden (which I love.. ) is Sakura Mandarin. Bit more pleasant to eat in than Dim Sum Garden, and they have good soup dumplings as well..The menu is both Japanese and Chinese but don't let that fool you, its the real deal.

+1 for the Koagie at Sammy Chos

And Vietnam Palace across the street from Vietnam is good too.

+1 to Sakura... they have good scallion pancake too. I'd advise you to steer clear of the obvious Chinese-American dishes there if possible.

Thanks for the recs. Gotta satisfy the not terribly adventurous palates of teenage boys. Sure we'll do fine with these suggestions.

If you really want to throw in the towel on anything adventurous, there's always the Hard Rock Cafe on 12th & Market. They might enjoy that.
