Excellent new restaurant...on Communipaw Ave Jersey City?!!!!!!!!!?

Yes...Modern American Eatery just opened 3 months ago in the Bergen-Lafayette Section of JC (aka Be-La) 399 Communipaw Ave. Two blocks from the Liberty State Park Light-Rail stop. I've only had the Baja fish tacos and the burger so far and I will be going back to try everything. It's as if Jose Garces opened a place in the what at first seems the most unlikely place ever (west of the turnpike!), but the neighborhood is starting to get a vibe, and these guys are the trailblazers. A must try for anyone who understands what good food is.

Initial brunch foray was a great success. Menu choices somewhat limited but managed with real care and across the board consistency. Place is attractive and has a nice vibe overall. Folks who run it are super pleasant - hipsters and families with young ones seemed equally at home. (Admit I could have done without the loud stream of hits from the 80s, but that's just me.) Well worth a stop for anyone in the JC area.

Bon Jovi and Def leppard 80s or New Order and Blondie 80s? If it's the latter then that's even more reason for my friends and me to go! :)

Well ok, if you insist: Consensus is it fell mainly in the New Order/Blondie camp.

          Thank burton. We're there!

Seriously though...when coldbeer posted this I immediately sent the link to my friends and we all agreed the menu looked great and said we would try the place in the next couple of weeks. We are all music lovers and spent our late teens into our 20s at clubs in the 80s (we were actually considered "hip" back then.) Here we are now (48-51 years old) and we still love our 80s music. :)
