Bake n Broil proprietor

http://www.latimes.com/news/obituarie...

Never knew that was the last name, and never knew he was a restaurateur and a veteran baseball scout.

it's important to note that (while a great guy), he had little to do with the restaurant, which was founded by his wife and is now run by their children ... and even one grandchild!

His SIL Andy manages the restaurant; he is there almost every time I go. Nice guy.

Would Andy be his BIL instead of his SIL (or is there something you know that is a bit of a family secret)? ;-D>

i think he means son-in-law. andy and kristin are pretty much running the place. and one of their daughters is stepping up to become the third generation.

YAY! That just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. We've lost many great places because the 2nd or 3rd generation had no interest in it... *sigh*

yeah, it's nice. unless you happen to be stuck working in teh family business. though i suppose having a waiting list pretty much solid from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. does help.

Jongewaard's Bake N Broil is the signage at the restaurant.

Yes a great scout, instrumental in the scouting and drafting of Darrel Strawberry, Ken Griffey Jr., and Alex Rodriguez. I thought about him while eating an Ollalliberry pie there.

      RIP Roger Jongewaard.

Yes. Bake n Broil has them in pie and shortcake. I've been a bad girl and have been eating the shortcake for lunch.
