Need help-Chocolate covered ice cream sandwich, the 80's?

Used to buy them in the frozen novelties freezer at 7-11 here in NJ. It was two chocolate wafer the cookies with a mint icecream center and the entire thing was covered in chocolate shell. There were other flavors but I loved, loved, loved the mint. Anyone remember these or know who made them?

are you sure it was wafer cookies? in California we have something called "it's-it" which is an ice cream sandwich made from oatmeal cookies with different types of ice cream in the center (vanilla, chocolate, mint) covered in a chocolate shell. I have never seen them anywhere else (I grew up in NY) but maybe they are the east coast equivalent?

Nope, not sure. Could have been an oreo cookie type cookie. I know it was round and now that you mention it, an oatmeal cookie sounds like one of the alternates. But there were not oatmeal cookies with mint ice cream. There was oatmeal and vanilla icecream. Are these prepackaged? Or sold at ice cream shops?

Both. And supermarkets. And oh are they good. Hope you're successful in finding your ICS! :)

When I looked up the website for "it's- it" it stated they are only on the West Coast but were in 15 states in the 80's so this might be them. They do have mint but no chocolate cookie, only oatmeal. I wonder if what I ate was a knockoff...

          Anyone else remember this?

Thanks for the suggestion but not quite. Aren't those sugar cone shaped like taco shells?

Big Wheels. They were a 7-11-specific product. There were mint ones with chocolate cookies, vanilla ones with oatmeal cookies...and I wanna say there were chocolate ones with chocolate chip cookies as well. Discontinued some time in the mid to late 80s, I think.

Clearly we're not the only ones who remember them: http://www.inthe80s.com/food/bigwheel...

Big Wheels were not covered in chocolate per the OP's description.

Holy mama! That's them! The original Big Wheels sold at 7-11 were covered in chocolate, wow, way to go Jenny! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

You're welcome! I remembered them as soon as I saw your description -- I lived about two minutes from a 7-11 when I was growing up, so I ate more than I share of them.

There were Big Wheels that were chocolate covered and ones that were plain: I think at one point there were something like six different kinds.
