Handles and "real" names

  • 7

Almost all hounds use handles for their forum comments. But the site's bloggers and recipe writers seem to use their "real" names.

Is this a site policy? What are the rhymes and reasons? Can a hound with a handle become a blogger or recipe writer?

  1. CHOW's editorial content -- blog entries, recipes developed in our test kitchen, videos, feature stories, etc. -- is developed by professional staff and freelancers, and publishing it under their byline reflects that.

Members of the site can comment on editorial content, and can participate on the Chowhound forums, using their chosen handle. Some members choose to use their real name as their handle, but that's optional.

Since you are a Community Manager could you suggest a "like" button so posters know they passed on good information. Also the ability to message people like they do on tripadvisor? CH and TA are the two best sites for mature conversation about places and food. IMO

Was that a quote from Yoda? (as in..."Decide you must, how to serve them best.")

Both are suggestions that have come up in our discussions in the past, so they're things that may be considered in the future.
