Team Alton aka "Little-er Italy" wins

Linkie goes home.

I'm still pulling for Justin to win it all.

  1. I'm liking Justin too, but Alton isn't warming my cockles.

This was the first episode I've seen Alton actually happy. He knew during judging his team had it nailed.

Well, at least Alton Brown shaved in this episode! I couldn't look at him last week, although he cleaned up towards the end of the show.

    2. Yawn. Pretty boring season so far

      1. Well that certainly was the most to the point wrap up ever. I'd add that Jeffrey (last name I'm not quite sure of, new Iron Chef) was the main guest and brought the secret ingredient of chicken livers which one member of the teams had to use. I usually love chicken livers so it didn't seem too out there to me. They had to set up fast food stalls at the South Street Seaport. Bobby's team did American, Alton's did Italian and Giadda's did Mexican, and all the members of that team were asking the Mexican woman how to do what. Linkie's presentation was pretty horrible and she freezes in front of the camera all the time, yet I was afraid they were going to keep her instead of Nicki. Justin's good but I kind of like the dude who made the chicken liver tacos and don't mind the guy with the dreads. The 50's girl gets to be a little much but I think she's good overall. Man, I'm bad with their names.

Chicken liver taco dude = Yvan
          Retro Chick = Emily
          Dread man = Malcolm

Yvan is charming but has been coasting and hasn't really shown a tremendous amount of depth or versatility.

You're right Emily can get a little much, but I really like her and she'd be my pick right now. She's pretty clever with her June Cleaver take on food.

I actually like Malcolm too, but he really needs to step it up. His food always looks really good, but he's a lot like hitting the snooze button on camera.

Linkie needed to be gone weeks ago and Nikki is just grating. Martie is a hoot, but how much motor mouth could you take in a half-hour show if she won? Martita had a gift handed to her and totally blew it, not because she froze in front of the selection committee, but because she had a chance to focus attention on her expertise with with Mexcian cuisine.

The 2 strongest competitors at the moment are both on Alton's team, Emily & Justin. But, do we really need or want 30 mintues every Sunday morning with them?

          1. re: DiningDiva

From the way most threads go, no one watches Sunday morning anyways. We all are busy working people who can only watch FN during primetime! :)

Right on brother! Sunday morning I'm either sleeping in or running a marathon ;-)

Great post, DD. I agree to the last sentence.

I like Emily and I'd love to try her desert panini. It sounded great. It was way past time for Linkie to go. I also thought it was kind of rude of her to take all the tomatoes; it sure didn't look like she actually used them all. But I would not have shed any tears if Nikki went home; I find her incredibly annoying. I thought Alton's team was very smart to do seafood for the "American" booth.

                1. re: DGresh

The American team was Bobby's wasn't it?

                  1. re: Joanie

yes you're right. In any case, they were smart :)

                2. re: DiningDiva

You're right about Martie. She just talks and so fast that I have a hard time following anything she says. If she starts coming out with a Paula Deen Y'all, I'm gone.
